What is not to like about Beef Stroganoff, not much! Its got a good cut of tender beef, cream sauce, shallots and even NOODLES. It’s a classic that will please the masses, even when you’ve frozen it and carried it out to a cabin in the woods with no heat. Once it defrosts… hours later, it is still good. Whether or not you’ve been drinking boxed wine all night, doesn’t really matter.
I was looking for a very simple recipe for Beef Stroganoff and in the process found a wiki article that tells me it is actually a Russian dish, I would have guessed German. It was actually named for the Stroganov family, a well-known Russian family that helped to settle Siberia. You can read more about the origins of Beef Stroganoff in the wiki article, it is a bit dry….
But, you can not say the same about the meal, yum. I searched a bunch of sites for a good recipe, they all had too many ingredients or took way to long! So I remembered my all time favorite, simplyrecipies.com and sure enough there it was… easy Beef Stroganoff. And now upon revisiting it I remember where I “read that wiki article” ha.
It’s a real crowd pleaser, I mean who doesn’t like Strogan-off!!
